Our History

Arctera is a vibrant startup… with 40 years of industry leadership

1983: Tolerant Founded

The company was founded by Eli Alon and Dale Shipley at Tolerant Systems

1989: Veritas Created

Veritas Software was created from a division of Tolerant Systems

1992: InfoScale Created

Foundation Suite, the predecessor of InfoScale is launched

1993: IPO

Veritas has its initial IPO valuing the company at $64m

1995: High Availability

Veritas acquires Tidalwave Technologies and enters the high availability market

1997: High Penetration

90% of the world’s 2000 largest enterprise are using solutions from Veritas

1998: Backup Exec acquired

Veritas acquires Seagate Software’s Network and Storage Management Group – Backup Exec joins the portfolio

2004: Enterprise Vault acquired

Veritas acquires kVault Software – Enterprise Vault joins the portfolio

2015: InfoScale hits the market

InfoScale becomes the new name for Storage Foundation with the launch of v7.0

2020: Merge 1 acquired

Veritas acquires Globanet - Merge 1 joins the portfolio

2024: Arctera launches
